About us

You are welcome to visit us from April until mid October.

Dutch hostess Maaike & Swedish captain Ingo

We, Maaike Bäck-Tysma and Ingo Bäck, have been running the bed and breakfast on the island of Sävö at the Swedish eastcoast since summer 2021. We could not resist the opportunity to take over the business, and we have no regrets!

Ingo welcomes you onto the boat, where you are in safe hands for the short boattrip to Sävö. He knows the archipelago in and out as he grew up in Trosa and has a background as a professional fisherman. So if you want to know about fishing and the archipelago, ask Ingo!

Maaike, who is originally from the Netherlands, receives you in the reception and the café. Besides being a hospitable landlady and baker, she designs the silver jewellery that is sold in the shop beside the café. So if you want to know about the excellent Dutch apple cake, ask Maaike (though obviously the recipe is secret)!

We are passionate about good service and providing experiences of the natural environment for our guests. If you have any questions or queries: we are here for you and can resolve most things.

Guesthouse with a history

The B & B is located on the island of Sävö, which is located between Trosa and Nyköping, south of the Stockholms archipelago. Only 1 hour drive from Stockholm and 45 minutes from Nyköping.

The guesthouse consists of two red wooden buildings built in the 1870s and used as homes for the pilots. The last pilot left the island in 1967 and the buildings have been used as a guesthouse since 1997. After conducting a major renovation in 2021, it is now possible to stay almost all year round at the bed and breakfast, which is comfortably and sustainably heated.

As it is an B & B you can choose your comfortlevel. Either simple where you take your food with you, or whith the extra options such as bedlinnen, cleaning and meal packages.

You always stay in a self-catering room of your own. You bring your own sheets, but bed linen can be rented from us. You do the cleaning yourself after your visit, but can choose to book the cleaning from us.

You can add various food packages when you book, a barbecue box or picnic basket with snacks for example. It means that you avoid having to bring food with you, and can travel with a light pack and stay a bit longer.

The Båtsmannen building has 5 rooms and two guest kitchens. As a guest, you have access to one of our two guest kitchens, each of which are well-equipped for 15 persons.

Hot showers and environmentally friendly composting toilets are located in a separate building beside the houses.

At the reception you can buy milk, ravioli, bbq charcoal, coffee, outdoor soap, sweets and much more.

In addition, the café at the guesthouse is open Wednesday – Sunday during the high season and Friday – Sunday during the low season. In the café, we serve home-made and locally produced cakes, light lunches and ice cream.

You get to the island in our boat, or your own boat. It is about 100 m to the guesthouse from our jetty. Trolleys are available for loan at the jetty.

It is possible to swim at various places on the island, but it is easiest at our jetty, where there is a small beach and a swimming ladder. There are lots of great rocks to jump from on the island.

Activities such as kajaking, hiking and swimming are perfect to explore here!

Neither wifi nor TV is available at the guesthouse so that you can maximise your experience of the natural environment and spend time with your nearest and dearest. Mobile coverage is variable on the island.

We take Swish and card payments in the café/reception, no cash.
